About The Project

The project activities were conducted through partnership and collaboration between the University of Belgrade (Serbia) and Hull & Associates, Inc. (United States). The project aimed to transfer knowledge and experience using LIF and MIP technology in the assessment of groundwater resources contaminated by petroleum hydrocarbons (e.g.  gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel), which are the most common subsurface contaminants.

About The Project

Slano Kopovo is a Ramsar site, and the natural resource of great importance in the Republic of Serbia. Hydrogeological assessment aimed to improve the management. After detailed field survey, a monitoring program was designed, and the network of monitoring wells was installed. The results provided valuable insgiht into the surface-groundwater interaction within this habitat.

Role: desing of conceptual hydrogeological model, analysis of groundwater hydraulics, interpretation of surface water/groundwater interaction, groundwater modeling

Monitored natural attenuation of groundwater contamination by jet fuel – Vitanovac, Serbia

Monitored natural attenuation of groundwater contamination by jet fuel – Vitanovac, Serbia

About The Project

Performed activities included monitoring of the natural attenuation processes in groundwater in the alluvial deposits of the Zapadna Morava River. After detailed field survey, a natural attenuation monitoring program was designed. Further monitoring activities at this site were conducted according to this program. Obtained results have confirmed the contribution of different biodegradation mechanisms in the reduction of groundwater contamination. Results of this study were published in international peer-reviewed scientific journal.

Role: design of natural attenuation monitoring program: placement of groundwater monitoring wells, development of site-specific groundwater sampling and analysis strategy; coordination on field monitoring activities; interpretation of analytical laboratory results; report writing

Enhanced in situ bioremediation of groundwater – Nitex Textiles, Serbia

About The Project

The textile industry „Nitex“ in the city of Nis was for many decades the largest in the country. Research activities were conducted to assess the current state of the environment. Project activities included characterization of potential sources of soil and groundwater contamination, detailed aquifer characterization for the application of enhanced in situ bioremediation. Based on these results, the system for enhanced bioremediation in filed conditions was installed. Results of this study were published in international peer-reviewed scientific journal.

Role: supervision of drilling and monitoring objects installation, design of sediment and groundwater sampling program, interpretation of the collected environmental data, installation, monitoring and operation of the bioremediation system, report writing.

About The Project

„Oaza“ is small-size bottling company from Kragujevac. Hydrogeologic investigations included evaluation of groundwater resources and groundwater supply engineering. Work included quantitative analysis of groundwater reserves, aquifer testing.

About The Project

Hydrogeological research activities were performed at the location of the residential complex in Block 65, New Belgrade. Issues included groundwater characterization for the utilization of geothermal energy, evaluation of groundwater resources and design of groundwater extraction and injection system.

About The Project

„Knjaz Milos“ is the largest bottling company in Serbia. Primary project activities have included evaluation of aquifer characteristics for natural mineral water production. As a results of these activities, new water wells within fractured rock aquifer were installed. Second phase of the Project consisted of the determination of groundwater source protection zones for three „Knjaz Milos“ sources (Rasadnik, Banja, Knjaz Milos).

About The Project

Sub-artesian and artesian aquifers formed within sediments of Pleistocene age represent the main source for public supply of the Kikinda Municipality (typical for the entire Province of Vojvodina). This study has included groundwater characterization for a development of new water sources for public water supply of this municipality. Results of this study were published in international peer-reviewed scientific journal.

Jadar is a world-class lithium-borate exploration Project, funded by the Rio Tinto Minerals. Hydrogeological research activities included installation of monitoring wells, packer testing, reporting.

The Oil Refinery Belgrade is the oldest and largest company in Serbia for a production of lubricants and anti-corrosion agents. Project activities within this industrial complex have included evaluation of groundwater resources and design of groundwater extraction systems.
